At last cold weather but it won’t kill off Deer Ticks
The weather has been mild for so long and then the rain made it very difficult for deer management. Then, when it warms up even slightly, they will reappear, climb onto some vegetation and wait for the deer to come to them. Or, your dog, or cat or even you! They are waiting at about the height of your knee, so be aware. Deer ticks will cause Lyme Disease and if you are bitten this can be very serious and a further reason … Continue reading

Rising Popularity of Venison
January 2016 – Wessex Deer Management Supports Rising Popularity of Venison. Demand for a more interesting and contemporary menu, as well as the lean and healthy attributes of Game are just two of the reasons why there has been a rise in the popularity of Venison, both on a commercial level and with the general pubic. One of the Uk’s leading supermarket’s recently reported Christmas Venison sales were up 115 per cent on this time last year. Major Investment Plans
December 2015 – Wessex Deer Management Make Plans for Major Investment. The success of Wessex Deer Management during 2015 will see the company put money back into the business with considerable investment decisions this year, for the benefit of the company and its future. This investment forms part of the company’s continuous improvement strategy and will see them look to update the current vehicles, with an emphasis on space, an ability to handle the varied terrain and fuel efficiency. How we operate
When it is considered necessary to reduce the number of deer on your land, we will operate under the strict guidelines laid out by The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), to ensure the welfare of the animal and the safety of everyone that lives and works on the land, as well as members of the public and any commercial livestock. Our deer culls will take place from a camouflaged and elevated A-Frame. This is for safety reasons, as previously explained, as well as a level of accuracy for an instant kill with no stress to the animal. We will also mark the date and exactly where on your land the animal was expired. Our work is always conducted humanely and with complete respect for the landowner, their business and the animal. We understand that there may be a negative reaction from members of … Continue reading
